I swear, if there was a way for me to make a counter-petition to keep Funimation from getting Gundam and have someone else pick it up without getting a ton of hate directed at me, I would totally do it.

Because bloody HELL, I’m tired of that one guy whoring out his petition in the Gundam tag and not paying attention to those of us who disagree with him.

And hey, while I was puttering around writing that last post, I got buried in another big truckload of notes on that music post from last week. x_x

After just finding another papier-maché cosplay armor tutorial today, I’m kind of questioning/rethinking using paperclay for my armor. I did the helmet with that last night, and even though it’s still drying (after finishing at around 1 am last night) and needs a TON of sanding, it’s rather heavy. I have a bad back (courtesy an on-the-job injury in ‘08) and right shoulder (from a car accident 20+ years ago), and I really don’t want to weigh those down too much if I might be wearing this costume for several hours on end. I know there’s always some kind of suffering involved in cosplaying, but I don’t want to overdo it!

But the tutorial I found today is papier-maché and multiple layers of gesso (the stuff you put on artist canvas) instead. I think this will be much lighter and easier to deal with, especially those pieces with more details and fiddly bits (like the hand and arm pieces, as well as the front chest piece). And it’ll probably be quicker and easier to work with, because it would only be a matter of brushing on multiple coats, as opposed to several hours dealing with something messy that takes a stupidly long time to dry. I spent about 3-4 hours just doing the helmet last night.

So I guess tomorrow I’ll be running out and picking up a few big jars of gesso (since I don’t have time tonight due to it being WoW raid night). And it’s probably a good thing I came across this now instead of at a point of no return.

(Though to be fair to the helmet, the paperclay does fill in some areas that badly needed filling in. There was only so much I could do in the previous steps.)

If you follow me and I end up seeing one or more gifs of people fucking when I hover over your name, odds are good that I DO NOT WANT YOU AS A FOLLOWER.

I’ve attracted two such blogs in as many days, and I don’t know where the hell they’re coming from.

Today is a Gundam X kind of day, and I am perfectly okay with this.
